Volume up control on TiVo remote makes menu for t.v appear on my Memorex: model: MT2024?

I have a series 2 TiVo and when i hit the ';volume up'; button it opens the menu on my t.v. It is a Memorex MT2024 and if i hit the down volume it works. only down works, not up. I had another problem finding the code to make the tivo remote work with that t.v also but i searched google and someone had said a code and it worked.
